yankee born... raised and trained in miami beach, i attended the university of miami earning degrees in arts and letters as well as (much later on) in interior design. focusing on all aspects of design for residential, commercial, and contract resort, i owned my own interior design studio in florida and north carolina. i also free-lanced as photo-stylist for a world-renowned professional furnishings photographer and showroom stylist for many of the best recognized furniture manufacturers showing at high point market. here i met the owner & designer of the giorgio collection (Italian high-end casegoods manufacturer) and became his gallery designer and showroom director.
this journey began the day that Michael Wilkov, along with his cantoni entourage, appeared in the giorgio collection showroom. years later, i moved to san diego & was working as showroom styler and sales designer for another contemporary retailer when the word spread that cantoni was coming to orange county…as did i…been here ever since the grand opening lucky number 13th of march-year 2000… and each day has been more grand than the one before!!!
having lived and worked in several latitudes and longitudes, both city and country, island and mountain, east coast and west, i have come to realize that certain principles of design remain constant (although not necessarily consistent): it is the client who inspires the designer, who in turn translates and imagines their needs and dreams into a livable, tasteful, inviting aesthetic reality unique to them. from transitional to soft to hard-core contemporary to cutting edge modern, the mood may change as you flow in and through the space…
regardless of the altitude, the attitude remains the same:
flow through form follows life recreated in art/design.
