I was born a ‘Yankee’, but was raised and trained in Miami Beach where I attended the University of Miami. I have two degrees, a Bachelor of Art (English/Psychology) and Bachelor of Science (Interior Design).
I owned my own Interior Design Studio as well as worked for others in the Florida and North Carolina area focusing on all aspects of design for residential, commercial, contract resort, photo stylist, and showroom designer for a professional photographer. I was also a showroom director and gallery designer for the Giorgio Collection (Italian high-end casegood manufacturer) in High Point, North Carolina. It is here, that I first met, Michael Wilkov, the Founder and CEO of Cantoni, who commands the greatest respect in the contemporary home furnishings industry. I later moved to San Diego and was working as a Sales Designer and Showroom Styler for another contemporary retailers when the word spread that Cantoni was coming to Orange County, as soon did I, and I’ve been here since the Grand Opening in mid-March 2000.
Having lived and worked in several latitudes and longitudes, in both city and country, both islands and mountains, both East Coast and West, I realize that certain principles in design remain constant (although not necessarily consistent). It is the client who rules and inspires and the designer. The designer merely translates their needs and dreams into a livable, tasteful, inviting aesthetic reality unique to them. This is achieved by keeping my eyes and ears open, and my mouth shut (well sometimes). Form follows function + frills…always in the 20th thru to the 21st century. From transitional/soft to hard-core contemporary to cutting-edge modern the mood changes as you flow in and through the space; regardless of the altitude, the attitude (the theme) remains consistent: CASUAL ELEGANCE. My design philosophy: FORM FOLLOWS LIFE RECREATED IN ART/DESIGN. |
