Piumone Vintage Leather: Piumone Vintage leather is chrome tanned, then retanned and Aniline dyed. Made from European hides, this is a natural full-grain leather lightly pigmented. Possible grain differences are to be considered a natural feature, along with imperfections such as closed scars, full grain flaws and skin inflammations, typical in all natural leathers. No pigment finishing process is used. The natural appearance and feel are later obtained using the dry drumming process. Stainless steel drums with hi-tech systems are used to polish the leather and to make the feel even and powdery to the touch.
During the normal life of the product, leather is subject to variations in temperature, exposure to sun light and general wear and tear, which determine its final status. Leather adapts itself to the external environment developing seat wrinkles and a warm sheen. This phenomenon is true with both clothing or general leather goods and depends on factors such as frequency of use, environmental features (temperature, humidity), sofa softness and leather thickness.
The “aged effect” of Piumone Vintage is created by highly skilled craftsmen who perform this process by applying natural abrasives in order to give the leather the proper aged effect.
