A Malibu Project

CANTONI'S LA DESIGN TEAM WAS UP TO THE CHALLENGE OF CREATING A HOME EQUALLY AS UNCOMMON AND DISTINCTIVE AS ITS OWNER'S CAR COLLECTION, CREATING A TRULY STUNNING DISPLAY OF MODERN STYLES.

At the top of the winding mountains in Malibu is a meandering 700-foot driveway that leads up to a 4,500 square foot desert oasis. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home is undeniably a work of art owing to the talents of renowned architect Ron Goldman FAIA. Its sheer exterior lends itself to its natural surroundings of dramatic rock formations and layered mountain ranges. And if that’s not enough to entice you, then we’re sure the owner’s collection of impressive automobiles is bound to get your blood pumping.

Featured in numerous television shows and commercials, the Malibu home features an extraordinary solid glass garage built specifically for the owner’s limited edition Porsche Carrera GT. But that’s not the only impressive toy in this car collection. After falling in love with the Eleanor Mustang from Jerry Bruckheimer’s remake of Gone in 60 Seconds, he purchased a 1968 Mustang and invested three years in remodeling the clone to create the hard-driving “Helleanor.”

It is apparent that the owner is the type of individual who dedicates time, attention, and hard work into the things for which he has great passion. When he walked into Cantoni about four years ago and met the LA Design Team, he soon realized they too shared his same drive.

One of the most important factors in furnishing a client’s home is designing it to meet the individual’s personality and lifestyle. It is clear that the owner’s taste in cars is sleek, sexy, and unique, therefore, it was important his home reflect equally alluring interiors. Inspired by the home’s stunning architectural features, like the rich stone floors and built-in brick fireplace, the Design Team selected a neutral palette of brown tones with pops of orange to add excitement and a modern flare.

In the open living area, the design team paired the Otello sofa in a rich brown Italian leather with contrasting Savona chairs. To tie all of the pieces in the open living room together, the design team had the client’s pre-existing built-in sofa reupholstered in a warm caramel-brown Italian leather. With its extra deep seats and soft-hand, the newly-renovated sofa served as the perfect place to sprawl out and relax–quickly becoming a favorite amongst the owner’s beloved poodles, Carrera and Bentley.

To energize the space and add visual interest, the design team infused pops of orange first in the kitchen with the Toto bar stools customized in the vibrant hue and again in the dining room with custom Italian side chairs. The end result–a sleek and modern retreat perfectly tailored to the client’s lifestyle — is exactly what the client had wished for and more.

I have been shopping at Cantoni for years and their commitment to the customer's happiness and satisfaction is one of the main reasons why I keep coming back.
