For busy doctors Meggie and Andrew Le Shea, time away with their family is often limited. So, when designing their new home in Lewisville, Texas they aimed to create the ultimate staycation house. "We wanted to have a hotel-like feel to the place," Andrew says. "But, more livable because we have two kids."
Cantoni design consultant Elizabeth Lewis Schramme was brought in for the job and tasked with completing everything from space planning and furniture selection to picking out the lighting and advising on fine art. "They lead very busy lifestyles and needed their entire house finished quickly," notes Elizabeth. With only six months to make their house move-in ready, Elizabeth worked to transform the home into the family’s dream destination.
To achieve that look Elizabeth kept things neutral, but added colorful artwork and fun pops of color in each room. "I love seeing the orange chairs when you walk in and the bright artwork against the neutral furniture in the dining room," she says. "I wanted to create that relaxing resort feel with a sleek and modern twist. For the large formal living room, I selected an oversized sofa and created two intimate seating areas, connecting the space with a custom rug to add warmth and texture.”
And it wouldn't be a vacation-like home without a pool and a view. "It was important for us to have a backyard where we could relax, " reveals Andrew. "That's why we love the infinity pool and the golf course view. Elizabeth helped us put together a great outdoor space to unwind, from the patio off our kitchen to the lounge chairs by the pool. Now, my wife and I love spending the evenings in our backyard, sipping our coffee and enjoying the sunset. It truly feels like a vacation."
