The Herman collection is a tribute to Herman Melville, the famous author of the novel Moby Dick published in 1851 during the period of the American Renaissance. The metal spine of the sofa in the Herman collection recalls the fin of the white whale Moby-Dick.
Designed Manzoni & Tapinassi
The originality and expressiveness of architect Maurizio Manzoni and the considerable experience of professor Roberto Tapinassi came together in 2001 to form a professional partnership among the most remarkable in Italy.
The two designers found common ground in wanting to offer new solutions for contemporary living issues by applying the logic of Italian design-- work which is purposeful and well-established in research. The results of their partnership can be attributed to the combination of their multidisciplinary fields - architecture, industrial design, and interior decoration-- as well as visual communication, fashion, and graphic design.
With off-centered legs that feature a slight taper, the Herman Cocktail Table is unique in that its durable structure is just as stunning as its collection of sophisticated materials. With a top of orobico marble and a pewter finished metal base, Herman is an ode to Herman Melville, famous author of Moby Dick, where the table’s angled design recalls the fin of the infamous white whale.
