Longtime Cantoni client and Modern Edge Builders founder Craig Shrader envisioned this residence as more than another home. As the inaugural project for his Houston-based firm, known for performance-driven modern luxury homes, it marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Building on a relationship shaped over multiple family homes, Cantoni Design Consultant George Saba thoughtfully translated Craig's vision into interiors that complemented the home's striking contemporary architecture while reflecting the same level of care and craftsmanship that defined every aspect of the project.
Located in one of Houston's most sought-after neighborhoods, the contemporary residence balanced striking architecture with understated interiors, allowing natural light, materiality, and proportion to take center stage. Every furnishing was selected to enhance the architecture rather than compete with it, creating spaces that felt refined, welcoming, and effortlessly livable.
Working closely with Craig, George curated furnishings that reflected the home's clean architectural lines while introducing warmth through layered textures, sculptural forms, and a restrained material palette.

That shared vision extended well beyond the furnishings. Building on ideas that had proven successful in previous homes, George partnered closely with Craig to create a custom Italian kitchen that balanced architectural minimalism with exceptional everyday performance.
As the visual anchor of the home's open living spaces, the kitchen was designed around the way people naturally cook, gather, and entertain. Long, uninterrupted stretches of counter space, thoughtfully integrated storage, and an intuitive layout made the space feel effortless to use, while premium appliances supported everything from everyday meals to weekend entertaining.
The beauty of the design lay in what you didn't immediately notice. Deep pull-out drawers improved accessibility, storage was integrated exactly where it was needed, and every cabinet and surface had a purpose. The result was a kitchen that felt calm, uncluttered, and remarkably intuitive—where thoughtful planning quietly disappeared into the background so daily life could take center stage.
Like the furnishings throughout the home, the kitchen embraced a restrained material palette and clean architectural lines that complemented, rather than competed with, the architecture. Durable quartz worktops, warm earth tones, and carefully integrated cabinetry created a timeless aesthetic that felt as welcoming as it was refined.
Throughout the residence, every design decision reinforced a quiet sense of sophistication. From the primary living spaces and dining room to the outdoor entertaining areas, the interiors invited prospective homeowners to imagine a home that felt both elevated and effortlessly livable.
The completed residence quickly attracted attention, selling in record time shortly after completion, a fitting first chapter for Modern Edge Builders and another milestone in Craig and George's ongoing partnership.
