Bleu Ciel means “blue sky” in French, so Benji opted to blend neutral tones at the core while infusing pops of blue. To wit: two "Color Wash I" giclée prints by artist Tobi Fairley at entry are paired with a low-slung bench for a dramatic play on scale, color, and balance. “The blue hues set the tone, and provide a sense of what we wanted to capture with Bleu Ciel,” Young says. “We were really impressed with how he carried out the theme.”
For comfort, Benji integrated clean-lined furnishings in soft materials. A handwoven Italian rug is paired with the soft Victor leather sectional and the plush leather Lolita chair in the living room; in an adjoining bedroom, the light-grey leather Season king bed in taupe is complemented with "Like Wings of A Butterfly," a textural embellished giclée on canvas by Dallas artist Jill Pumpelly. He also created areas for rest and conversation on the spacious balcony overlooking the pool. “My intention was to create a comfortable, relaxing place that also spoke to Bleu Ciel’s aesthetic and lifestyle,” Benji says.
In each space, he paid close attention to the surrounding landscape—which includes gardens by Japanese landscape architect Sadafumi Uchiyama—and ambiance. “The design is stunning,” Young says. “Everything from the artwork he selected to the furniture in the dining room works really well with the style of Bleu Ciel.”
