When building his new home from the ground up, Dave Reece, Senior VP of Finance and Capital Markets for Gables Residential, knew he would be spending a lot of his time enjoying the outdoor views that his property has to offer. The neighborhood is ideal for those looking to enjoy their natural surroundings, with plenty of privacy to revel in the lush greenery that can be seen from every angle. To complete his outdoor oasis, and furnish the interior of his home as well, Dave met with Cantoni designer Kohl Sudnikovich after receiving a referral from a friend who thought the duo would work well together.

And work well they did. Dave’s expansive outdoor space went from bare to bursting with style with the help of Kohl’s expertise. “I really enjoyed working on the outdoor space the most,” said Kohl. “Having an extensive outdoor space with a pool, fire pit, deck, and a covered porch was really invigorating to design around."

The pièce de résistance of Dave’s outdoor space is his back patio, where you can engage in almost any outdoor activity that comes to mind. On the covered porch, the Freeport sofa and lounge chairs make conversation a breeze, while the matching end tables and concrete cocktail table are the perfect, durable pieces to rest a glass or kick up your feet after a long day.

Around the fire pit, warm yourself up in the Ventura rocking and swivel chairs. When lounging poolside sounds appealing, the Cleo adjustable chaises and On the Move large side table will be ready, and for any al fresco dining, the outdoor bar is outfitted with the Sicilia rectangle dining table, arm chairs, and bar stools. The outdoor appeal doesn’t end with the back patio. On the front balcony of this stunning home, you’ll find the Portico sofa and lounge chairs with a complementing Nest cocktail table and end tables, creating the ideal setting when a change of scenery is needed.

And when it’s time to retire from relaxing outdoor living, Kohl ensured that the indoors were just as comfortable and stylish. Decked out in a wash of neutrals and mid-toned rich warmth, the interior of Dave’s home is just as lavish, an open and airy space that provides stunning views with its floor-to-ceiling windows. In the living room, a custom Lago entertainment unit takes center stage against a feature wall of rich wood. The expansive Matteo sectional with reclining backrest and the twin Cattelan Italia Lingotto cocktail tables perfectly section off the space from a separate sitting area behind, which features matching Sofia swivel chairs, the Waves cocktail table from Fiam and a complementing accent drink table from Cattelan.

In this open-planned home, the dining area and kitchen sit on the other side of the living room. While the dining room carries over the wood detailing with another feature wall that overlooks the Spyder dining table and Arcadia dining chairs, both from Cattelan, the kitchen is just the opposite with cabinetry and countertops in a mix of white and dark grey. To provide additional seating, the waterfall island is lined with the sleek and stylish Lem bar stools from Lapalma.

After a long day in the sun, it’s always nice to unwind in a space that you consider your personal haven. In Dave’s master bedroom, Kohl took the liberty of creating a space that was clean and minimalistic, but with a flair of Italian style with the Nelson king bed and Ciro nightstands from Cattelan and the versatile Sugar stool in a gray leather from Gamma.

“While the majority of the project was outdoor space planning, one of my favorite design elements ended up being in the living room,” said Kohl. “Centralizing the TV mid-section within the Lago entertainment unit and the L-shaped Matteo sectional was a fun challenge so that Dave could recline to watch TV or on the opposite side to face and enjoy the fireplace.”
