Siwon and Elliott had one thought in mind: to furnish their new Los Angeles home with sleek and modern furniture from Cantoni’s portfolio. The recently married couple were eager to get started, so they brought with them plenty of photos and videos and met with Cantoni designer, Richard Bustos, who was immediately taken by the architecture of their ultra-modern build. “Siwon and Elliott were very excited to work with someone on their first home that they ‘clicked with’,” says Richard. “I was excited to work with them for the very same reason; I love building relationships with my clients.”

When building their home, Siwon and Elliott opted for a California modern style that incorporated both indoor and outdoor living spaces. “We were interested in sleek lines and the mixture of natural elements, like wood and leather, with man-made materials,” said Siwon. “We wanted our floor plan to have an open, organic flow as guests walked through, but with a sense of distinctive spaces.” Playing his design choices off these desires, as well as the architectural details, Richard set to work implementing organic components to offset the cool concrete and glass elements of the home.

The spacious entryway greets you with the sleek and geometric console table and offers a welcoming view of the main living area, which is decked out in soft grays, found in the custom sofa and statement making cocktail table. Subtle pops of color make their way into the mix with matching swivel chairs and throw pillows on the sofa, all swathed in delicate sea-foam green. To offset the cool design of the main living space, the family room showcases creamy and rich leathers, found in the custom sectional and chairs in honey leather from Gamma. Organic woods elevate the soft and inviting design by way of the striking cocktail table and the sleek entertainment unit.

The kitchen and dining room continues with the theme of open space and light, airy design with a distinctive edge. Cognac bar stools line the sleek waterfall bar in the kitchen, lending warmth and sophistication to the streamlined design, while the dining room takes on a dramatic, yet subdued edge with a custom wood dining table and dark, high-backed chairs, both Cattelan Italia. The backyard sprawls out beyond the dining and family room, continuing the sense of conviviality with an outdoor grilling and dining area, complete with a glittering pool. An al fresco sofa sits center stage, accompanied by twin lounge chairs, which pair nicely with the arm chairs that surround the rectangular dining table.

The master bedroom exceeds itself with rich tones and inviting warmth, creating an intimate space that recalls tranquility and unity. Richard selected a custom king bed in supple cognac leather as the centerpiece of the room, with nightstands and a bench to match. A trio of dynamic wall mirrors were chosen to break up the crisp lines of the space and take pride above a custom Pianca vanity. On the enclosed balcony, a daybed perches, overlooking lush green trees – perfect for relaxing on a Sunday morning or cool evening. In the two guest bedrooms, Richard opts for refined elegance with sleek queen beds, both swathed in a creamy color palette.

“I loved that Cantoni had so many connections to different Italian furniture companies that we could look through to find the perfect piece,” said Siwon. “Richard was so sweet and helpful throughout the entire design process and in guiding me through the stressful yet fulfilling endeavor of furnishing our entire brand-new home!”
